The Covid19 pandemic restrictions in place at Rutgers University do not allow in-person laboratory-based WISE programs at the Waksman Institute for the summer of 2021. The 2021 summer virtual vWISE programs will be run as described below.
When is the vWISE Program?
- Since we not allowed to meet in person, the WISE programs will run weekdays beginning Monday through Friday for two weeks. Tentatively, there will be two sessions WISE-June will be 6/21/21-7/2/21 (9:00-10:30 AM and 1:00-2:30 PM) and WISE-August will be 7/26/21-8/6/21 (9:00-10:30 AM and 1:00-2:30 PM).
- Students are expected to attend and participate fully each day of the session.
- In between the on-line sessions, students are expected to go over the material through online videos and lecture notes, followed by a series of quizzes and bioinformatic assignments.
Students will need a good internet connection and be able to run Firefox or Safari on a PC or Mac. Chromebooks and Chrome are not compatible with the DNA sequence analysis programs that students will need to use to perform their analyses on the DNA sequences.
